I read off a Boox Leaf2. I wish I could remember when or why exactly I got it… I had a Kobo Libra for a little while but gave it to my wife and got myself the Leaf2.
I enjoy it very much. I wanted to be able to easily install Android apps on it, including FBReader Premium, which is my preferred app for navigating my library and reading my books. I believe that at the time I bought it, the Leaf2 was one of the few e-readers that allowed for this while also meeting my other strict specifications.
I should probably clarify that by e-reader I mean e-reader, not a tablet. If I had a tablet I would probably just get distracted by other apps and clean, convenient internet browsing. Therefore, it was important to me to get a nice boring e-reader. I’ve put myself to sleep many times with it. In my apartment building, the provided treadmills have a flat console with a nearly vertical screen rising up. If I prop my phone upright on that screen, then stack my e-reader on top of my phone, I can read fairly comfortably while using the treadmill. Ahhh, it’s very nice.
I have had it for a few years now, so I have some good memories of it. I read Irvin Yalom’s Lying on the Couch in one sitting on my way to Hawaii. I read a bunch of books in a spree on Kauai. The weekend I got married, I was reading Alfred Bester’s The Stars My Destination, which happily turned out to be one of my favorite books (although that book specifically has some funny psychedelic parts in it with colored text that my e-reader could not accurately portray; I feel that little of value was lost).
