My wife and I got a house and if all goes well will close on it today. It’s been an arduous journey and not very fun. Housing is ridiculous in this country. We’re very fortunate to be able to get a house and to be near the end of this silly struggle. It’s an entire aspect of life that I just don’t want to deal with anymore.
It’s a nice house, though, in my opinion. We are already fairly sure which room will be my office. Daddy’s study. A place where legendary things happen. It has some sunlight. A bookcase can go there and I can fill it up with my own stuff as the years go on. By the way, never forget that 1 year is over 1 percent of even a very long life.
When you buy a house, you are buying a set of problems. A house can be a real money pit. But you know what else is neat about a pit? You can live in one.
It took us years to find a house. That was a lot of showings. Wandering around houses we instantly knew we weren’t going to buy. Stupid agents. A lot of stupid people in this fake industry. Entitled crybaby sellers messing up their own houses with literal dog shit and vast quantities of home brewery steam and showing up in the middle of inspections. I’m excited to move on from all that. But it does probably mean that today there won’t be any writing because things are going to be very busy, LOL.
